Harvey Jabara has described new investor Ron Fowler as a serial winner following news of his investment in the club, alongside his son Andrew Fowler.
News earlier today stated that Ron and Arthur Fowler have invested in Lincoln City through their Luquid Investments, Inc. entity, which will take an initial 12.6% stake in Lincoln City Holdings.
Ron led the ownership group and was executive chairman for Major League Basketball side, San Diego Padres for eight years. He was also previously owner and managing general partner of the San Diego Rockers football team. On top of those achievements, he’s the former chair of the Major League Baseball’s Labor Policy Committee as well as a member of the MLB’s Executive Council. A recognisable achievement for Ron is his role as host committee at the 2003 Super Bowl.
Outside of his sporting achievements, the 79-year-old has vast experience in the beverage industry through Liquid Investments, which trades in all sorts of different types of drinks.
Ron has been described by the club as a long term friend of City’s majority stakeholder Jabara.
Jabara seemed delighted to get Ron and Andrew on board with the Imps, describing him as a serial winner: “Ron is a serial winner both in his business and sport interests, not to mention his incredible passion to give back to his community, leading significant philanthropic endeavours benefitting countless individuals and organisations over many decades.
“He has been very generous with his time and advice to me over many years, and his leadership of the San Diego Sockers and the Padres has been a model for my involvement in Lincoln City. At no time in my professional career has someone reminded me more of my father than Ron Fowler. With that, I have no higher praise for an individual.
Jabara feels City have progressed since his investment, and feels the help of Ron and Andrew will help the club fulfil even more potential.
He added: ”I felt it was important to really get to know this club and its fans, as well as the city, before asking for investment from colleagues. I believe we have truly progressed as a club under Clive’s leadership, developing our infrastructure and investing in permanent signings, and the opportunity to call upon Ron and Andrew for advice will help us continue to develop.”
