Elicha Ahui Rejoins Drogheda United
Elicha Ahui departs the Imps rejoining former loan club Drogheda United.
Elicha Ahui has left Lincoln City to join Drogheda United on a permanent deal.
Ahui made his one and only Imps appearance in the EFL Trophy, starting under Mark Kennedy against Newcastle United’s U21 side. The young full-back was impressive that night, securing an AllLincoln MOTM Award on his debut. Hopes were high for Ahui after the game, and in January, he moved to the League of Ireland joining Drogheda on loan.
During his spell with Drogheda, he made 21 appearances, scoring once against Derry City. He returned to City in the summer before joining Scottish side, Ayr United. His spell north of the border didn’t allow him to kick on as he struggled to get into the team on a regular basis. In the second half of the season, he had a spell with Peterborough Sports.
Drogheda manager, Kevin Doherty said: “When you know the player really well, it’s an easy decision for me, but we had to work to get him in, and I’m delighted he’s a Drogheda player again. He’s been playing in midfield on loan too. I’ve watched the games he’s played, we know what he can do at right-back, but it’s another option for us aswell because he’s been excellent there too.
Ahui added: “It’s great to have him back. It’s not going to take him a lot of time to settle in either, because he knows so many of the players.”
“I’m delighted to be back. The manager reached out to me, and as soon as he did, I wanted to come back. I’ve had more experience in men’s football in the year away too. It’s about coming in, helping the team as much as I can to move up the table.”
