Jaden Brown Departure Confirmed

Jaden Brown leaves the Imps.

Jaden Brown has left Lincoln City to make a return to St Mirren on a permanent deal.

Brown joined the Imps ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, and at the time, it was considered a coup for Mark Kennedy’s side. The wing-back had just won promotion with Sheffield Wednesday and was a graduate of the academy at Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Brown made his debut for the Imps against Notts County and was a nomination for the AllLincoln Man of the Match that day. Despite starting strong on debut, Brown failed to kick on and fell out of favour under three different head coaches. After just 10 League One appearances, the former Huddersfield Town defender moved to St Mirren on loan. He struggled for time on the pitch during his loan spell at St Mirren, with defensive stalwart, Scott Tanser occupying the first team slot on the left.

Brown leaves the Imps with just 15 appearances to his name, in a move that probably suits all parties.

Speaking to his new club, Brown said: “I loved my time on loan here at the club last season. I didn’t get as many games as I wanted to but it’s important to be in and around good people and it was a successful group, qualifying for Europe.

“You want to play in the big games and play in the biggest competitions so it’s a great opportunity to showcase what I’m about. Hopefully I can come in and hit the ground running.”

St Mirren manager, Stephen Robinson also said: “I don’t think people have seen the best of Jaden. He arrived here without a lot of game time and towards the end of his loan we were really impressed with him. We had no direct competition for Scott Tanser at left-wing back so it was important we have that level of competition.

“Jaden can also play in numerous different positions further forward and on the right-hand side so he certainly strengthens our squad. It makes the fight for starting places harder for everybody which is how you progress.”
