City Secure Highly Rated Championship Striker
Lincoln City have secured the signing of young striker Bailey Cadamarteri from Sheffield Wednesday on a season long loan.
The Imps have announced that the new man will take the vacant number nine shirt left by Joe Taylor and that he’ll be available for Saturday’s away fixture at Stevenage.
Cadamarteri has come through the youth ranks at Wednesday and broke through into the first team setup under Danny Rohl last season. He had a great spell from November and into the Christmas period, especially in December, where he started every game, scored three goals, contributed one assist and picked up the EFL Young Player of the Month award.
Cadamarteri certainly adds depth to the attacking areas for the Imps, joining Ben House, Jovon Makama, Tyler Walker, Rob Street and Freddie Draper as out-and-out centre-forwards. Not only does he add depth, he adds quality to City’s squad and potentially replaces what Taylor gave to us throughout the second half of last season.
He said: “I’ve spoken with Jez George and the gaffer and feel like this is the right place for me to be to develop.
“I’m looking forward to showing the Imps fans what I can do. I was here for the game against Barnsley. The fans were brilliant in that match, they got behind the lads even when they were behind, and I can’t wait to have them right behind me.”
Head coach Michael Skubala said: “Bailey adds a set of qualities that we’ve been looking for this summer to add to our forward options with top end pace, power and a threat in behind.
“We need a strong department at the top end of the pitch for all types of opponent across three competitions with so many games. We feel that Bailey can make a real impact in League One. He has joined us for all the right reasons and we are really looking forward to working with him.”
