Jack Diamond’s loan has today been terminated by Lincoln City FC following the footballer having criminal charges brought against him.

The 23-year-old has been charged with one account of rape and one account of sexual assault and will appear in court in May. His parent club, Sunderland AFC, suspended their academy graduate while the investigation is ongoing and released a short and abrupt statement this afternoon.

“Sunderland AFC has been notified that criminal charges have been brought against Jack Diamond by the Crown Prosecution Service.

“The player has been suspended with immediate effect, pending the outcome of the judicial process, and his loan agreement at Lincoln City Football Club has also been terminated.

“As this matter is subject to a legal process, the Club will not be making any further statement at this time”

Diamond joined the Imps in the summer transfer window, and has scored six goals in twenty-nine games for Mark Kennedy’s side, although four of them came in September against Derby County and Bristol Rovers. The winger has been ineffective in recent weeks and will now not feature for the football club again.
