Lincoln City revealed their 2023/24 home kit this morning, following the club’s announcement that Oxen is the new technical kit provider for the next two seasons.

A few days ago now, we had an announcement that we changed kit provider from Eerea to Oxen, which was a big step. We’ve had Eerea for quite a while and to move away from it is something I’ve been told is something we’ve been wanting to do at the end of the deal, they don’t make bad kits but I think we want more flexibility with our training ranges, which hopefully Oxen will give us.

Upon the announcement, Liam Scully told the club’s official website a few days ago, “Oxen will allow us to have a fully customisable range across all products which are produced to a high standard in a fair trade manner. They will also be able to work with us to create bespoke ranges for female supporters too.

“As a League One football club that’s growing, it’s really important to us that we have our own identity and we can look to grow the brand.

“Hopefully when the supporters get to see and feel the items they’ll be pleased both with the designs and the quality as well. Oxen are very well respected in their industry and we are very proud and excited to be partnering with them.”

As you know, we have since had the kit release, and while I’m not a kit analyser myself and I’m not into my kits too much, I’m a really big fan of it. I really like the black on the shirt, which gives it a retro look, and I’d go as far as saying, it’s the best home kit we’ve had in recent times. You can’t really go wrong with a red and white striped shirt (except 18/19) but it feels like Oxen have nailed it.

I’ve heard from a few people that have already got the shirt that the quality feels good, which is extremely important too. I’ve also noted there is a women’s fit shirt, which is good for the ever-growing female part of our fan base.

We can look at a kit and say if we like it or not, but the legacy of it really depends on how perform in that kit. If we walk away from this season with a playoff finish, then this kit will become a favourite, but if we suffer relegation in it, some won’t even want to see it again. That being said though, the kit release is a massive thing and something that we can all get excited about, especially considering the last few weeks have been lacking any sort of news at all.

I can’t wait to see some new signings in it, and then I can’t wait to watch us play in it. Next season excites me, and this is just the beginning of what will hopefully be a great summer.
