Lasse Sorensen is loving his new role as a wing-back, and hopes he can carry his form from last season into this campaign as we approach the season opener away to Bolton.

Mark Kennedy made the decision to move Lasse from midfield to wing-back last season, and since he came on in that position against MK Dons, the Dane hasn’t looked back truly making the position his own. Despite a major change in the area of the pitch he plays in, Lasse told me at the EFL Season Launch day that he hasn’t had to change his style too much.

“I’m really enjoying it. I don’t think I’ve changed my style of play too much. You do a lot of the same as a box-to-box midfielder, getting up and down. Obviously you do more defensively, particularly one-on-ones and having more responsibility.

“I think it is [my best position] but I just try to do well wherever I play. Hopefully I can keep doing well there. I certainly enjoy it.”

While many are predicting the Imps to have a good campaign, Lasse has reiterated that it’s a tough league with lots of teams ready to fight higher up the division. While he doesn’t set personal goals, the 23-year-old hopes he can continue to do well and maybe chip in with some more assists and goals!

“The aim is to do well as we can. We’ve got to respect the teams in the league, as it’s a really tough division but we’ll be aiming to do the best we can.

“I’d like to just play well, help the team and maybe chip in with some goals and assists.”
