Jaden Brown has left Lincoln City, on loan to Scottish Premiership side St Mirren.

The full-back signed for the Imps in the summer, and was viewed as a major coup following his release from newly promoted Sheffield Wednesday, but since his arrival he’s struggled to cement a place in the first team under three different managers.

Brown has featured 15 times for City in all competitions – 10 of those in League One. The left-back has started just three league games, with all of them coming under former head coach Mark Kennedy. After a promising debut against Notts County, and a small run of games including starts against Wycombe and Sheffield United, he fell away from the first team picture and hasn’t been able to secure many minutes since.

His game time under Michael Skubala have been limited. Since he was appointed, Brown has featured three times with just one of those appearances coming in the last eight games. His final appearance before heading out on loan was coming off the bench against Blackpool on New Years’ Day playing just 33 minutes.

City’s director of football Jez George said: “Jaden needs regular football and this is a chance for him to put himself in a better position ahead of next summer.

“St Mirren are a good club, with a good manager, who constantly overachieve, and this is a good opportunity for Jaden that we are happy to facilitate.”

I wish Brown all the luck as he heads to Scottish Premiership with St Mirren – Ethan Erhahon’s former club. Hopefully he can get himself a good run of games north of the border to help him either earn his way back into the plans at Sincil Bank in 2024/25 or find a move away from the club in search of regular games.
