Lincoln City legend Gareth Ainsworth took time to praise Mark Kennedy and his team after the 0-0 stalemate at Sincil Bank yesterday.

Despite not playing hundreds of games for City, Ainsworth is considered one of the best to have pulled on the shirt. From 1995/96 to 1997/98 seasons, the now Wycombe manager featured 97 times for the club and scored 41 goals, while being named our player of the season twice.

Ainsworth played with Mark Kennedy in the past, at Wimbledon and they both have great respect for each other. Ainsworth claimed before the game that “Mark is really getting something together at Lincoln.”

Once again, he gave his praise for Mark and City post-match.

Gareth told the Bucks Free Press: “Teams will shut up shop against us but Mark [Kennedy] is a good guy with a good team, so I am considering this a good point away from home.

“Lincoln are a very good side and I think they are very unsung in this division.

“We are very similar-sized clubs and even though they get more fans than us, we have got very similar histories.

“We’ve got to respect this as we can’t win every game we play, but this is a top club and I’m pleased with the point we have got, so you have to credit Lincoln.

Gareth took time to share his love for City, showing why every City fan has massive admiration for him.

“It’s always a pleasure to be back here as I love this place
