On Saturday, we added a new attacker to our squad and one that is a much-welcomed arrival due to our current goalscoring problems. Still, it went somewhat under the radar with our ‘disappointing’ performance away at MK Dons.

Mark Kennedy added QPR attacker, Mide Shodipo on loan until the end of the season, with the bright winger becoming our sixth loanee to join the squad. Mide is no stranger to a League One loan spell having enjoyed two previously. His first came at Oxford United, where he played a key part in their play-off semi-final campaign in 20/21 contributing with thirteen goals in all competitions. He was highly rated by Oxford and their fans but they failed to retain him for another loan the following season and departed QPR again on loan to promotion hopefuls Sheffield Wednesday. His move to the City of Sheffield didn’t go as he would have hoped with only one goal in twenty-three appearances for Wednesday.

He is out of contract with QPR at the end of this season, and while he did start their most recent Championship outing with Luton Town, he is unlikely to remain in their plans beyond next season, showing that this move might set up a permanent move in the summer if he performs for Mark Kennedy’s side. He has been highly rated at QPR, and that shows with the winger having made eleven appearances for them this season in the Championship but at the age of 25, it may be time for QPR to let him go, and we are the perfect club for him to perform at with our lack of creativity and goals in the side at the moment.

Head coach Mark Kennedy said: “Mide is a direct and creative player who will bring us more options in the attacking third.

“He is an experienced player at this level and has played in the Championship this season, he comes with the qualities to make an impact this season.”
