City Set for Winger Transfer Merry-Go Round
The Imps are set for a transfer merry-go round in the wide areas with current members of the squad set to leave, meaning incomings are imminent.
It was reported by The Real EFL that summer signing Charles Vernam is set for a loan move to our county rivals Grimsby Town until the end of the season, in search of regular and consistent football. Charles signed for City in the summer and it looked like a real coup for Mark Kennedy’s side with the winger being one of the most impressive attackers in League Two last season with Bradford City. Despite impressing in his limited opportunities, he has only made six league starts for City and a return to his former club Grimsby could be exactly what he needs to come back stronger in the next campaign.
There is more activity with our wingers and news has come out recently that our top goal contributer Jack Diamond is set to stay with City after the Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray revealed that he is not planning to recall the player when speaking to the Sunderland Echo.
“It isn’t something that we’ve spoken about and considered – it may be something that has been discussed by the technical board. As the guy on the grass working with the players we’ve got, we haven’t really [spoken about it].”
This conflicts reports from the DailyMail earlier this week that stated Sunderland were pondering a recall, but with Jack regularly starting for City under Mark Kennedy and contributing with goals and assists. If Sunderland have the best interests of the player at heart, then he will likely remain at Lincoln rather than going back to sit on the Sunderland bench, similary to what Tyler Walker did when he was recalled by Nottingham Forest a few years back.
With Diamond confirmed to stay, Vernam rumoured to go and Garrick already leaving, there will surely be some incoming movement in the coming days for City, who are aiming to turn around a poor run of form.
