Lincoln City duo Freddie Draper and Elicha Ahui have headed out on loan to Drogheda United as they search to gain senior football experience.
The move will be a popular one, with many remembering the development of Sam Long and Sean Roughan in Ireland with Drogheda, with the latter now being a key piece in our first eleven. The move highlights our good relationship with the Irish club, with them yet again being trusted with the development of two of our brightest talents.
Freddie has shown signs of talent in his performances so far for City, making his debut under Michael Appleton over a year ago against Sheffield Wednesday, he went on to make multiple first-team starts before scoring his first goal this season against Newcastle’s Under 21 side in the Papa John’s Trophy. Freddie wasn’t the only one to impress in that game though, Elicha also made a big impact in City’s victory over the young Magpies, claiming the man of the match award on his senior debut for the Imps.
City Director of Football Jez George is pleased with the agreement and is hoping the deal will see an improvement in both players.
”This will be fantastic for their development. We know the league, we know the club, we trust the staff and we look forward to seeing them tested at a really good level.
“We really value our relationship with Drogheda but Freddie & Elicha really have Sean & Sam to thank for the way they performed and conducted themselves on and off the pitch last season, to have paved the way for them to have a similar opportunity.”
We can see Freddie and Elicha in action on the 17th February when the Drogs start their season against Shelbourne.
