Lincoln City have confirmed today that Jamie Robson has left the football club to join League One rivals Forest Green Rovers on a permanent deal.

Jamie joins Forest Green as the second Imps player to join in the last two days, with Jordon Garrick confirming a loan move there yesterday after his loan with us was cut short. The move is hardly a surprise after City confirmed the loan signing of Harry Boyes earlier in the day upping the squad to three left sided wing-backs. The departure of Jamie leaves us with Harry and Sean Roughan as our out-and-out left wing-back options.

Jamie made 47 appearances for City, but struggled to get a good run of form due to his spot being claimed by Cohen Bramall last season and Sean Roughan this season. Jamie was brought to the club for an undisclosed fee, once believed to be our record transfer but that rumour was put to bed and is not true, and we have managed to claim at least some of that back with Forest Green paying a fee for the player and the Imps retaining a future interest.

I was always a fan of Jamie and I always thought he had the potential to be a really good wing-back for us. Last season he struggled to adapt to the physicality of League One football but this year, he was certainly improving but he was one of them players who never got any luck and that showed with the incredible form of 19-year-old Sean Roughan. I’ve seen some say that leaves us in a weaker position but I wouldn’t exactly say that, but we have replaced a permanent member of the squad with a loanee, which suggests we have a long-term target in mind that we will pursue in the summer transfer.

I’d like to thank Jamie for his service and I wish him all the best at Forest Green.
