Lincoln City have extended Jordan Wright’s stay with the club to the end of the 24/25 season rewarding the keeper with a new contract.

Jordan has been primarily City’s number two this season thanks to the form of loanee goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, but he did start for the Imps last night in a draw against Barnsley keeping a clean sheet in the process. The stopper will be hoping he can be the number one next season once Rushworth returns to Brighton and a new contract signals that Mark Kennedy’s intent is to start the young keeper going into next season.

Jordan has made twenty-seven appearances since joining City in January 2022. Despite being signed as a number two, Jordan was thrown into first-team action after an injury to then-first-choice Josh Griffiths and really impressed keeping a number of cleansheets. Jordan was once again demoted to the bench at the start of this season though, but a series of impressive performances in the cups, especially penalty shootouts, and games in the league when Rushworth has either been injured or on international duty with England.

Mark Kennedy was full of praise for the young goalkeeper and has already hinted at a number-one role next season for him in previous interviews.

“One of the reasons why Carl Rushworth has been so good this year is because of how Jordan trains on a daily basis to constantly push and challenge him,”

“We have the upmost confidence in Jordan and know his qualities and his capabilities.”
