As the season draws to an end we reward the players who have performed above the rest and give them recognition for their hard work over the course of the season.

The AllLincoln End of Season Awards are something I really enjoy doing at the end of a campaign because it gives me a chance to look back on the season as a whole and celebrate performances of players in the team. It’s been a great twelve months for the Imps, it started with employing Mark Kennedy as our new manager and it ended with us securing an eleventh-placed finish in League One, with lots of great moments in between that.

In case you missed my article a few months ago about the categories or have forgotten anything, the categories are AllLincoln Player of the Season, AllLincoln Young Player of the Season, AllLincoln Signing of the Season, AllLincoln Goal of the Season, AllLincoln Individual Performance of the Season. Every award will be announced in this article, apart from the Player of the Season, which will come later on.

AllLincoln Young Player of the Season

The AllLincoln Young Player of the Season is Carl Rushworth.

Carl has shown exceptional performance with his fast distribution, impressive shot-stopping abilities, and confident command of the penalty area. Despite his young age, he has displayed a level of maturity and competence beyond his years. Only towards the end of the season, when we’d secured our survival in League One, he did make a few errors, but I don’t think that should affect our opinions of him.

In my opinion, Carl could be playing for England at some point in his career as well as being a Premier League goalkeeper. I would be shocked if he wasn’t playing regular Championship football next season because he has such a big future ahead of him and is well deserving of the AllLincoln Young Player of the Season.

AllLincoln Signing of the Season

The AllLincoln Signing of the Season is Paudie O’Connor.

Paudie has been excellent since signing for us in the summer and has been one of, if not the most, consistent player in our team. He has shown great defensive ability helping us earn eighteen clean sheets in the league this season, on top of that, he has been almost ever-present and has shown great leadership throughout the season.

Paudie fully deserves the AllLincoln Signing of the Season award and he will hopefully on next season and improve on this campaign. He will most likely find himself captain next season, with Regan’s imminent departure, and I think we are in good hands with Paudie as a leader.

AllLincoln Goal of the Season

The AllLincoln Goal of the Season is Lasse Sorensen’s goal against Wycombe Wanderers.

Lasse’s effort against Wycombe from the half-way line wins the AllLincoln Goal of the Season with over 50% of your votes. Here is what I had to say about the goal in my match review after he scored it, “Wycombe’s goalkeeper, Max Stryjek, kicked the ball long and low over the halfway line, and Lasse Sorensen controlled it before launching it into the back of the net from a distance of at least 55 yards, an extraordinary moment that left not only the players and staff but also the fans in the stadium and at home in awe. This is the kind of moment that will be remembered for years to come, and it’s even more special that it was Lasse who delivered it.”

Lasse is a prominent member in the community and does a lot off the pitch as well as on it, so it’s great to see such a great guy doing so well at our football club.

AllLincoln Individual Performance of the Season

The AllLincoln Individual Performance of the Season is awarded to Carl Rushworth for his performance against Oxford United.

I’ve already commented on Carl and his performances this season, and he is the only player to win two awards this season. In terms of his individual performance against Oxford, he didn’t put a foot wrong all afternoon, he claimed every ball and made some great saves. I recall him being so dominant in the air that day that the Oxford players were trying to nail him after he claimed a corner.

As I’ve already said Carl is a great goalkeeper, and I’ll be keeping a close eye on him next season and beyond.

That rounds-off the AllLincoln awards for this season, I’ll be announcing the AllLincoln Player of the Season over the next few days, and congratulations to all the players that won, it’s thoroughly deserved.
