Michael Skubala issued an injury update on Ethan Erhahon this morning as he previewed City’s trip to Blackpool on New Year’s Day.

Erhahon came off with an injury on Friday night against Northampton Town following a bad tackle. The medical team are still assessing the Scotsman, meaning he’ll likely miss the game against The Seasiders.

When questioned about the injury by BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s Rob Makepeace, Skubala said: “We are assessing how he is. I thought it was a really bad tackle, it could’ve easily been a red card. We aren’t sure on Ethan at the minute.

“It’s his ankle/foot. We aren’t sure whether it’s a strain or something worse, which we are in the process of doing with the medical team.”

Skubala also addressed Paudie O’Connor’s red card against Northampton, and City’s head coach further reiterated his opinion that the decision to send the skipper off was a harsh one, and confirmed that the club are appealing the decision. City aren’t short of defensive options though, with Alex Mitchell ready to step into the mix if needed on New Year’s Day.

“We are in discussions. I think it’s harsh, I think Paudie is just trying to compete. If Paudie is not there, I’m happy with Alex Mitchell and he’ll be ready to go and raring.”

With Erhahon and O’Connor set to miss out on the visit to Bloomfield Road as things stand, Skubala discussed the issues City are having with a lack of players available. The Imps will travel to Blackpool without Lewis Montsma, O’Connor, Erhahon, Tyler Walker, Danny Mandroiu, Reeco Hackett and Ben House.

“It’s [the injuries] making it harder than it already is. We are having a bit of bad luck with the injuries and red cards It’s not easy but we’ve got to get through it, and we’ve got to try and do our best with the recourses and players we have available. We’ll try and keep putting a team out that can be competitive every game, but the cards just aren’t falling our way.”
