City to Recall Young Forward

Charley Kendall is set to be recalled by the Imps after a disappointing loan move to League Two strugglers Sutton United.

Lincoln City are set to recall young forward Charley Kendall from his loan spell at Sutton United in League Two.

Reliable Journalist Ryan Whelan on The Real EFL has confirmed that the Imps have recalled the young striker after a disappointing first half of the season, where he struggled to find minutes in the fourth division of English football.

Kendall signed for us in January of 2022 from Eastbourne Borough, but he was loaned straight back to the East Sussex side for the rest of the campaign. He was extremely successful at Vanarama National League South level scoring twenty-four goals in thirty-six games. Despite a unfortunate play-off defeat with Eastbourne, the striker returned to City for pre-season aiming to impress City fans and most importantly the new boss Mark Kennedy. He certainly did impress in pre-season and earnt himself a place in the squad in the first month of the season and made his first start against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup, scoring the first goal of the game.

After featuring for City in the league against Fleetwood Town from the bench, he signed for League Two side, Sutton United, on a loan deal until the end of the season with a view of the striker getting more football, which would naturally accelerate his development. However, things did not go to plan for Charley, having only featured seven times in League Two and making just two starts. Sutton have not utilized Kendall since the 12th November and he has not featured on their bench in the last three games.

Charley is now set for a return to City, which is a welcome boost with Danny Mandroiu, Tom Hopper and Jordon Garrick having been rather injury prone in the first half of the season, and he could be needed with a lot of games throughout January. While he is unable to return to League Two on loan due to playing for two clubs in one season, a move to the National League could be possible for the young striker to get games in the second half of the season.
