Mark Kennedy Delighted to Secure “No.1 target” as 23/24 Season Draws Closer

Mark Kennedy was delighted to secure his number one goalkeeping target today as the 2023/24 draws ever closer with pre-season set to start in the new few weeks.

The Imps announced the signing of 24-year-old goalkeeper Lukas Jensen earlier today on a permanent contract, something we haven’t seen in the last three seasons, with City utilizing the loan market to secure the services of Alex Palmer, Josh Griffiths and most recently Carl Rushworth. Lukas comes in as a permanent member of our squad to challenge Jordan Wright, who signed a new deal towards the end of last season. The pair will most likely challenge for the number one shirt, ensuring both of them are at the top of their game.

The 6″6 Danish stopper was delighted upon his arrival to the club and took to social media to say, “[I’m] incredibly happy to finally call myself an Imp and start a new chapter of my football career.”

A new permanent club will certainly be a new start for Lukas, who has spent the last few years gaining experience out on loan in the EFL, with the likes of Bolton and most recently Accrington Stanley. Kennedy seemed delighted to secure Lukas’ signature claiming that he was the number one target at the club, and the Imps Head Coach went on to explain what attributes he possess.

“We are delighted to sign Lukas. He has the attributes that we look for in this position; he commands his penalty box, he’s an excellent shot stopper, is aerially dominant and will be a presence in our goal. He was our No.1 target for this position and I am sure he will really enjoy working closing with Scott Fry, our goalkeeping coach. This is another positive signing for us.”
