Anthony Scully has departed Lincoln City for Championship side Wigan Athletic.

Scully signed for City in January 2020 from West Ham and has been a fan favourite ever since his first goal against Accrington Stanley. It isn’t just the fans he has impressed though, pundits and experts alike have heaped praise on him. Scully has taken part in countless big games for City and featured at Wembley, where we were one game away from going into the Championship for the first in sixty years. Since he arrived he has reached the 100 game milestone, his last goal for City was against Barrow in our recent cup victory. Anthony played a big part in our play-off campaign season, where he got the club’s golden-boot, tied with Jorge Grant on sixteen goals. He followed that impressive season up with another impressive one scoring fifteen, most of them coming in a golden period early in the season.

Anthony leaves City well respected, but with just one year left on his current deal, it seems the right decision to move him on. I personally wish Anthony all the luck and hopefully his new chapter is as good as this one. You will see more Anthony Scully content up on the site tomorrow, obviously when there is more time to reflect on the move.
